Pronouns: she/her
Johanna practices exclusively in the area of wills and estates law, which is distinct from, but often complementary to, family law. Her practice generally encompasses three areas: helping clients plan for end of life and a smooth transition to the next generation on death through the creation of wills, powers of attorney and representation agreements; assisting with what comes after death, including the probate process; and representing clients in the various kinds of disputes that can arise in the area of estate law, including variation of wills, disputes arising from the administration of estates and concerns around improper use of powers of attorney.
Johanna understands that estate matters are often emotionally charged, and provides clients with a compassionate, calm and practical approach to each situation. In the area of estate planning, Johanna believes in a collaborative approach with a client’s other professional advisors, including accountants, financial advisors, corporate lawyers and more, to help her create the most effective plan for each client and their families.
Originally from the Comox Valley, Johanna attended law school at the University of Alberta before returning to British Columbia upon her graduation in 2017. She was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2018 and practiced at another Vancouver Island firm before joining Duncan Allen in 2025.
Outside of the office, Johanna is an avid equestrian and hobby farmer and can usually be found immersed in some farm-related project with her patient and long-suffering husband.
