Meet Tannis

Pronouns: she/her

Tannis has practiced family law almost exclusively since her call to the bar in 2017. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Tannis worked in journalism and communications, which is evident in her approach to family law: she takes complex legal matters and breaks them down for her clients so they are informed and empowered to make the best decisions for themselves and their families – whether at the beginning or end of their relationship.

Tannis believes that, wherever possible, it is preferable to settle matters outside of court. Tannis is a trained Collaborative Divorce Lawyer, which allows her to work with clients who are seeking a respectful divorce process out of court. Tannis is also accredited as a Family Law Mediator, empowering families to make decisions about their future in a supportive and respectful environment. She also appears regularly in both Provincial and Supreme Court on behalf of her clients. Tannis practices in the Comox Valley. She focuses on assisting clients located in Comox, Courtenay, Cumberland, and surrounding areas, including Campbell River, though she also assists clients across North Vancouver Island.

Originally from Edmonton, Tannis is a mountain girl at heart. She fell in love with Vancouver Island when her work as a journalist brought her here, and she never wanted to leave. In her free time, Tannis takes advantage of her natural surroundings – whether on a mountain bike, a snowboard, flailing about on a surfboard, or hiking with family.
