Tannis has practiced family law almost exclusively since her call to the bar in 2017. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Tannis worked in journalism and communications, which is evident in her approach to family law: she takes complex legal matters and breaks them down for her clients so they are informed and empowered to make the best decisions for themselves and their families – whether at the beginning or end of their relationship.
Tannis believes that, wherever possible, it is preferable to settle matters outside of court. To that end, Tannis has used negotiation and mediation to assist her clients, and she is pursuing training in collaborative law. She also appears regularly in both Provincial and Supreme Court on behalf of her clients.
Originally from Edmonton, Tannis is a mountain girl at heart. She fell in love with Vancouver Island when her work as a journalist brought her here, and she never wanted to leave. In her free time, Tannis takes advantage of her natural surroundings – whether on a mountain bike, a snowboard, flailing about on a surfboard, or hiking with family.
