HIRING: Legal Assistant

Duncan Allen Law LLP (“DAL”) is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join our team.

We are a boutique law firm with offices in downtown Nanaimo and Qualicum Beach. Our team is made up of thoughtful, quick-witted professionals who genuinely enjoy working together. We value collaboration, humour, and mutual support—whether that means sharing baked goods, celebrating wins, or helping each other navigate both professional and personal challenges. We prioritize flexible schedules that support work-life balance, including parenting needs, and we believe that comfort (yes, comfortable pants included) and a positive environment contribute to doing our best work. Above all, we are committed to guiding our clients through the often complex and emotional areas of estate and family law with warmth and competence.

Our ideal candidate is highly professional, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a supportive and dynamic team. A minimum of one year of experience in estate law is preferred. Familiarity with Clio, DivorceMate, Microsoft 365, and Adobe is considered an asset.

This is a hybrid Legal Assistant role supporting both estate and family law matters.

The position is full-time, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is based in-person at our main downtown Nanaimo office. The role is available immediately, though we are happy to wait for the right candidate.

If you believe you would be a great fit for DAL, please submit your resume along with a cover letter that reflects your personality and strengths to Kathryn Hobbs at kathryn@duncanallenlaw.com. We encourage applicants to visit our website to learn more about our firm’s values and culture. Hey, you’re already here! Take a look around!

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes three weeks of vacation, a health spending account, a wellness incentive, and the occasional Michael Scott reference.

Please note that only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
